This policy describes two separate things: the Holos application, which runs on your Mac, and holosvoice.com, which is where you buy it. They collect very different amounts of information, so they are described separately.
Speech is recognised entirely on your Mac, using speech models that run locally. Audio is never written to disk and never transmitted anywhere. It is held in memory while you speak and released when the dictation finishes.
Holos keeps a local history of past dictations so that a transcript is not lost if the window you were typing into loses focus. It stores text only, on your Mac, in your own Application Support folder. It holds the most recent 200 entries and discards anything older than 30 days. You can switch the history off, or delete it entirely, in Settings under Privacy.
Transcripts are never sent anywhere. Nobody but you can read them, including us.
There are exactly two occasions, and neither carries anything you said.
Holos contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no usage measurement and no licence check-in. It does not report that you installed it, that you opened it, or that you use it.
So that a misrecognition can be explained rather than guessed at, Holos keeps a short local record of how confident the recogniser was about which language it heard. This is a list of numbers — the most recent few dozen — and contains no transcript and no audio. There is also an optional debug log, off unless you deliberately turn it on, which records timing information and expires by itself. Both stay on your Mac.
Holos does not request permission to control other applications, and does not read the contents of your screen.
holosvoice.com is a static site hosted by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Cloudflare processes standard server request data, such as IP addresses, in order to serve and protect the site.
Payments are handled by an external payment provider acting as merchant of record. They collect what is needed to take a payment and meet tax obligations — typically your name, email address, billing country and payment details. We never receive or store your card details. We receive your email address and order reference, and use them only to issue your licence, to send you the receipt and any renewal notice, and to answer you if you write to support.
Your licence key is a signed file. It is verified on your Mac using cryptography, with no contact with any server, which is why Holos keeps working when you are offline.
Because almost nothing leaves your Mac, there is very little for us to hold. You may ask what we have that relates to you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, by writing to support@holosvoice.com. Deleting your details does not switch off software you have already paid for.
Records we must keep for tax purposes are kept for as long as Canadian law requires, and no longer.
Holos is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change ever meant Holos collected something it does not collect today, that would be announced in the application itself and not only here.
